How to navigate provincial wine regulations

Step-by-step guide to managing province-specific wine rules in Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and Nova Scotia using Cepaos.

2 min lectura

Why provincial rules matter

Canada's wine regulations operate at both federal and provincial levels. While excise duty is federal, licensing, distribution, labelling, and retail rules vary by province. A winery in Ontario faces different requirements than one in British Columbia or Nova Scotia. Cepaos adapts its compliance checks based on your province.

Prerequisites

  1. Province selected in Settings > Organisation.
  2. Provincial licence numbers entered (e.g., AGCO licence for Ontario, LDB licence for BC).

Step by step

1. Select your province

In Settings > Organisation, select your province. Cepaos loads the applicable rules.

2. Review provincial compliance dashboard

Under Compliance, click Provincial Rules. The dashboard shows your status for each provincial requirement.

3. Generate province-specific reports

Click on any requirement to generate the corresponding report. Cepaos formats the output for the relevant provincial authority.

4. Track interprovincial shipments

If you ship wine to other provinces, Cepaos tracks the destination and flags any interprovincial shipping restrictions.
