What is WIETA
The Wine and Agricultural Ethical Trading Association (WIETA) is an independent, voluntary body that audits labour and ethical practices in the South African wine industry. WIETA certification is increasingly required by UK and European retailers. Audits cover working conditions, wages, health and safety, housing, and freedom of association.
Why track WIETA in Cepaos
While WIETA focuses on labour practices rather than wine production, much of the supporting evidence — worker records, training logs, seasonal employment data — intersects with vineyard operations. Cepaos helps you centralise this evidence so it is readily available during an audit.
Prerequisites
- Team members configured in Settings > Team, with roles and employment type (permanent, seasonal, contractor).
- Training records logged in the People module.
- Health and safety incidents recorded if any occurred.
Step by step
1. Access WIETA preparation
In the sidebar, under Compliance, click WIETA Audit. A checklist of audit categories appears.
2. Review the checklist

3. Upload documents
For each category, click + Upload to attach the relevant documents. Cepaos timestamps each upload for audit trail purposes.
4. Link vineyard team data
Cepaos can auto-populate seasonal worker counts from your harvest records. Click Link Harvest Data to pull the number of workers per harvest period.
5. Generate audit pack
Click Generate Audit Pack. This produces a single PDF containing all uploaded evidence organised by WIETA category, plus a summary cover page with key metrics.
6. Schedule follow-up
If the audit identifies corrective actions, create tasks in Cepaos with due dates to track remediation.

Does Cepaos store personal worker data securely?
