Voice dictation

Hands full of grapes? Dictate the notes.

Nobody wants to type mid-harvest or next to a fermenting tank. Tap the mic, speak, and watch the text appear live in the form — from your phone, in your language.

How it works

1. Tap the mic

A 44 px touch button below the notes field. The first time, your browser asks for microphone permission — once.

2. Speak

The text appears live as you dictate. Works on your phone (Chrome on Android, Safari on iPhone) and on desktop.

3. Review and save

Your dictation lands as plain text in the field: correct it, add to it by keyboard if you like, and save as usual.

Where it's available

Today you can dictate notes and observations in 8 field and cellar forms:

  • Mobile harvest entry
  • Grape receiving
  • Create work order
  • Close work order
  • Fermentation control
  • Pump-over log
  • Spray application
  • Soil analysis

In your language — and your crew's

Dictation defaults to your interface language (all 23 Cepaos languages). And if your crew speaks a different language than the office, a selector next to the mic lets you dictate in the language spoken in the field, without changing the interface.

Included in every plan

Voice dictation ships with Cepaos at no extra cost and with no add-on — from the smallest plan to the largest.

What you should know

Live dictation uses your browser's speech engine (Chrome, Edge or Safari) and requires an internet connection. In unsupported browsers the mic simply doesn't appear and the field works as a normal text field. Audio never touches Cepaos servers: we don't receive or store recordings.

Frequently asked questions

Does voice dictation work offline?

Live dictation needs a connection, because recognition happens in the browser's speech engine. Forms with offline capability keep saving your data without a connection: you can type the notes and everything syncs when the signal returns.

Which browsers and phones does it work on?

Chrome and Edge (desktop and Android) and Safari (iPhone, iPad and Mac). In browsers without dictation support — for example desktop Firefox — the mic isn't shown and the field behaves like a regular text field.

Does Cepaos store voice recordings?

No. Audio is processed by your browser or operating system's speech engine; Cepaos doesn't receive or store audio. The only thing kept is the text you see in the field, which you review and edit before saving.

Can I dictate in a language other than the interface?

Yes. Next to the mic there's a dictation-language selector: the interface can be in English while the note is dictated in the language your crew speaks. The preference is remembered on that device.

How much does voice dictation cost?

Nothing extra: it's included in every Cepaos plan, with no add-on and no separate usage limit.
